The curlew is painted on a 1974 OS (Ordnance Survey) SW English Lakes Map of the area of the River Esk as it meets the Irish Sea. The curlew is hand painted in watercolours and gouache over a pen and pencil sketch. The painting is framed between 2 pieces of cut glass and finished with copper foil and 40% lead 60% tin solder. A handmade wooden block made from reclaimed wood provides a stand for the painting.
