An original unique painting of a comma butterfly using watercolours, inks, gouache and fine pen line work on a section of a 1974 South-Eastern English Lakes Ordnance Survey (OS) Map mounted between two sheets of glass.
The butterfly is hand painted in watercolours and gouache over a pen and pencil sketch on a section of the map covering New Hutton (near Kendal). The painting is framed between 2 pieces of cut glass and finished with copper foil and 40% lead 60% tin solder. Copper rings have been added and British made copper ribbon included for hanging.
This painting would make a lovely unique gift and is perfect for a collector.
